Janice aboard Seaweed,
living the good life afloat...

Trawler life on a nickel budget is possible.
I'm doing it and you can too.

Money Matters
Coastal cruising is within reach of even the least financially endowed. I'm certainly proof of that!

So, how does it all break down? It's not always about cash now, so don't forget that.  Folks on the water help each other. I've had work done on Seaweed, sans cash and have done things for boaters in return -- and not one-for-one.  For instance, I might help Maverick wire a tachometer and rebuild a water pump while I receive help from Sparrow with my windlass.  That's what boaters do: they help each other.

Still, there's nothing like cash, and goodness knows we aren't well stocked with that aboard Seaweed. In that regard I've been blessed by some donations via PayPal (how cool is that?!) and many folks have been kind enough to purchase thru my Amazon links. I appreciate that too.

This is how it all breaks down:

2024 Amazon purchases via

It costs you nothing and helps keep me afloat.

$ 00.00 - January *deposits occur at end of month

$00.00 in total for 2024.

There is a minimum for payments from Amazon. Amounts below $10 are rolled into the next month (or longer) until the thresh-hold is met. Plus they hold money for two months. Thus, January's deposit was accrued in November.

Previous years, for the curious:
$43.94 in 2013 $282.63 in 2014
$514.40 in 2015 $505.46 in 2016
$424.99 in 2017 $238.81 in 2018
$112.96 in 2019  $70.59 in 2020
$460.10 in 2021 $499.17 in 2022
$575.04 in 2023

Life afloat truly is amazing!

As I build my site I've often wondered how similar websites are doing.  I do know my Google ranking is 2 (of 10) so obviously I've got room to grow. If you are curious as to hit counts and such, the Statistics page tells all.

Contributions to my Cruising Kitty via

Every gift helps.

Skipper, First Mate

My home is not fancy by any means, however you cannot imagine how wonderful it is to come back to her after an expedition on shore.

Here we are anchored in the Carrabelle River and as you can see the sunset is pretty marvelous.

If I can live this life, why not you too?

My Buddy, and his girlfriend...

A favorite aphorism: Boat Math: Start with a list of 10 projects, finish 8, and find yourself with only 15 projects left. Boat Projects have a definite kinship with rabbits.

Thanks for visiting. If you happen to see my boat along the waterways, give a call on Channel 16. I'm always listening.
