 No problem, I've had a few older hondas and favor them over the newer ones I have now. There's no simpler engine to fix and inmy opinion unless burning profuse amounts of oil no reason to ever replace them.

 As a precaution do check the oil in the lower unit, There is a drain hole and a fill hole. Take the screw out and drain it, and refill it with 80-90 gear oil from the parts store (the stuff the boat supplyplaces sell is the same thing, just more expensive) and while you drain it look for any water in it. If only a little no big deal, if alot you'll need to pop off the prop and replace the seal. However thats a pain and I compensate by changing the oil once a month and never had a failure.

  First of all, thank for the good advice.  In the absence of a gasket,
  permatex has stopped the leak in the seal.  My only problem was I busted off
  one of the bolts in the hole, and my 10mm socket is now part of the
  Columbia.  Drill and tap in my near future.  But - the good news is, even
  busted off, it's still seals.  Forgot to try the choke technique you
  described.  

  Work, that damnable activity, is going to prevent me from getting to the
  boat tomorrow, but not Wednesday.  I'll check out the choke then, cause it
  still dies in low idle.  

  Still, I got a feeling this ol' motor is really close to being back in good
  shape.

  I had an afterthought. When you run the engine roll it back to an idle. If
  it starts to die out pop the choke on and off one time very fast. If that
  bit of extra gas brings it back, and then it starts to fade again the engine
  is definately running lean. Try it several times.... If the choke popping
  kills it then we don't have a leak it's actually too rich and thats a simple
  adjustment.
