With apologies for the delay in replying...Yes, I am on Verizon. I have both an iPhone and the coolest Verizon tablet ever. Frankly over here Verizon has the best coverage. I've been places and had the only phone with bars.
I'm not certain what mvno is though. I utilize the Hotspot that comes with the service. That works well. Here in Florida T-Mobile offered two lines for $60 which was a real bargain, except that coverage doesn't seem as strong versus Verizon, though I'm not an expert.
Smartphones are pretty cool. Frankly though it is the Android tablet that stole my heart. This thing is a miracle, and frankly the larger screen is a real bonus. I love love love this thing.
Thank you for your comments. I appreciate that a lot I will look into mvno in addition to the cell phone boosters. And then there's Elon Musk. When he launched his car into space... and the way he brings the boosters back, well all that IS the sci-fi series Tom Corbett, Space Cadet that I read way back when.
For now, at least along the Florida west coast Verizon coverage beats T-mobile. I've read good things about at&t down in Boot Key Harbor, in the Florida keys however when I checked prices it was $$$. Like all companies, we pick from what works and where. Baby's home gets Verizon, but none of the others and it is spotty.

And so for my previous posts, my email address is exposed for anyone to harvest, which will lead to Spam. I too have looked at Elon Musk's pricing. If it is as good as claimed, this might indeed be a viable option.

$100 is a lot monthly. Last month I used 120 gigs. The thing about T-Mobile on this coast, with the grandma thing (over 55, two lines/$60 a month) is that it comes with 50 gigs on the phone, plus 50 tethering. Last month I used 120 gigs. Netflix. I know -- and I've got the DVDs here.
I am familiar with the purchasing of bandwidth through major carriers. MetroPCS has something like that... either they or T-Mobile is the main company. Frankly I'm not sure which is which, though I suspect T-Mobile is primary as it is one of the stocks some folks follow.

As for internet, I've opted to utilize two carriers. It is important that I be able to upload regularly. I'm working on being more consistent. Anyway, I do thank you for your ideas. T-Mobile was $60 for two lines, both with 50 gigs/50 gigs. The only pain part is that I have to swap the cards from Slot A and B around because the phone utilizes A only for tethering. Not a perfect solution, however it is viable. Sometimes I put the second card into an old (Azpen phablet) unit too, as that is a 10" screen and handy for movies. Anyway, in reading my reply I didn't think I was clear that the $60 was actually 100 gigs plus 100 gigs tethering. It's a fabulous deal, though I'm certain they have superseded it with something else by now. Basically though, whatever service has the best coverage is the one to chose.
Here, Verizon is superior. T-Mobile has the bandwidth and I get it on the boat most of the time. Verizon is the best though -- by a large margin.
Frankly I cannot believe how far I have come from never having had a tablet a few years ago, to now enjoying thoroughly the tablet. It truly makes a difference in my life. T-Mobile is definitely the back-up plan.
I was raised "one is none" so prefer to have a margin of redundancy. It is important to me. That is why I have two kindles, two tablets, two phones, two propane burners for cooking, etc. It is the way I was raised (we cruised, often far from civilization and had to rely on ourselves) ... I attempt to do the same, albeit in a much more modest fashion. In any event Kent, thanks for your messages. J.
