I do tend to try often. Success is seldom achieved without building on what is learned by virtual failure. I like figuring out stuff. As a follow-up, the tomatoes are still growing so (knock teak) this might just yield a supply for my salads.

If you were to try again, just a little tip/trick ive learned with tomatoes.. you can put mesh bags around the hanging planter , and spray both the dirt and the plant with diluted 3% Hydrogen Peroxide diluted with water in a 10:1 ration. I have killed so many fungus nats, and other pests using this natural pesticide plus the plants really appreciate the extra O2
That is very helpful information. Especially the Hydrogen Peroxide addition. Currently I've got some tomatoes actually doing well. I will definitely spray with the hydrogen peroxide... I like that idea.
On Seaweed I add h202 to my water tank when I refill too. I am not certain if this is an old wives tale or truth, however I'm not getting the rotten egg smell. To be frank though, I am cycling the water which is the biggest help in keeping things nice.

U grow a full, lush garden with at least 12 different tomato plans, dozens of peppers and several zucchini and baby watermelon and 3 cucumber every year for 20 yrs. All outside 90% in containers. If you got gnats, you're watering too much/often. Just a thought. I live near Sacramento CA so we start in March thru September. Last year I also grew potatoes and will again in grow bags that I can easily move. I use Neem oil and also Repel which repels bugs, critters, bird, as they don't like it as it has clove and garlic oil in it. Repels All.
