I just ate my breakfast,a fried egg on whole toast sandwich, while reading your post. 😁 I don't get hungry until midday but prefer breakfast to lunch. That boat your dad built is gorgeous. I bet it was very livable also.
First, the boat your father built is truly beautiful. I really prefer that Sedan style of layout. Your father was a truly skilled craftsman. I can now see where you got all your boat talents. Second, making pancakes is an acquired skill that very few people can actually master. It is difficult for me, too. All in all this was a terrific article, interesting topics and just the right length. Thanks for publishing. Looking forward to you next installment.

That is a sandwich Mother enjoyed. She would always toast her bread to the "blackened" stage. I'm not certain why she preferred bread blackened but she did. As for self, lightly toasted is fine.
I LOVE hotdogs (the Kosher ones are delicious) almost burnt. That's the way I like them best. At outdoor festivals I look for the burnt hotdogs or sausages. That's my preference.
Yes, Daddy's boat was extraordinary. Note though that the original boat was not nearly so nice. This is after 40+ years of modifications and changes. I suspect folks buy a boat thinking this is the "end result" of their search. Instead when they want changes they spend $$$ to "upgrade" when (if they had bought the correct boat originally) they could modify her. Seaweed is NOT much like the vessel I bought.
I believe she is better. She does suit me far better than when I purchased her. Your dream boat looks like a great basis for life afloat. She is fine as is, and over the years you may decide that this or that needs tweaking to make her yours.
Sterile (as in: from the factory) boats are just not-so-great. It is the personal touches that make a boat a home. Personally, I LOVE going aboard a boat that's been lived aboard for a few years. Those little tweaks here and there make a great deal of difference that are often worth considering for my Seaweed.

Thank you Cap'n Sid. He truly was an extraordinary man. Who'd have thought a man who began life repairing wagon wheels could have created such a vessel??? I was indeed fortunate.
That said, those pictures were taken when the boat was more than 40 years old. She was far more rudimentary, though always to my eyes nice. Most folks buy multiple boats as their needs and wishes change. Daddy simply (said with tongue FIRMLY in cheek) redid, and made her work for us. He had vision, and skills. I wish I was half as smart as he was.
As for my pancake making skills, I will try again at some point. Of late I have been sprouting more and cutting back on the microgreen growing. As I have access to water nowadays, sprouts is a better match for my situation.
Plus, of course, I've been spending like a drunken sailor making my Seaweed gorgeous. This is the first time I've spent this kind of money if practically forever. I am fortunate to have a spot to do this work. Er, actually, I've hired a talented fellow who is is making Seaweed so pretty. He has the gift and I am grateful he is willing to spend time doing things that are difficult for me. Life is indeed good that way.
