Bird Lady from Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown on 20 Mar '21

Great, Great article. Thanks for the education on birds in your area and also on the different species of hot dogs. Who knew? Buddy is SO cute, it is no wonder that you have adopted him. Very smart bird to have groomed and worked you so well. Keep producing the articles. We love them. And you. PS - now you are doing into the video business? I like it!

Thank you for the compliment Sir from Janice aboard Seaweed on 20 Mar '21

I am indeed fond of the feathered contingent. My Nevermore (of course a crow) has an injured wing. He has eaten from my fingers and is very gentle.

Alas, the birds leave residue from their visits on my solar panel, the boat I'm rafted to and along the dock. Argh.

Temporarily I have closed the restaurant. The kids are noisy and cantankerous about this decision. There are others nearby who continue to feed the birds. Now I've stopped before, so my track record as far as the birds consider is that this is a temporary measure. In the past they have learned that if they make enough of a racket I will eventually throw hotdogs wafers at the crew until they hush. Sigh.

They do bring joy to my life. Indeed I am fortunate. Thank you Cap'n for your comment. I appreciate that. J.

Presley the Dog from Big E on 20 Mar '21

That picture on your home page of Presley the dog is great. Just look at the concentration on that dog's face! That is one squared away pooch.

Re Presley from Janice aboard Seaweed on 21 Mar '21

Yes Big E, Presley is great. I love his face. That is a dog 2h9 could convince me he needs treats with those eyes. He is amazing, and he's aboard a Nordic. Those are nice vessels. Thank you for your comment. I appreciate that. J.

Thanks Cap'n for the compliment re YouTube. I suspect that postings there will be sporadic at best. It was crazy though to find I have already a few subscribers. How nice that was to discover!!!

Life progresses here. Life aboard Seaweed continues to be all I can wish and more. I am indeed fortunate. J.

Remarkably most get along though there are skirmishes and feathers are removed when the disagreements escalate. The ibis with their curved beaks will snatch the hotdogs wafers from Buddy's beak. Buddy retaliate by pulling feathers. The great white heron is a feather puller too.

Watching them interact is always interesting. One of my crows has an injured wing. I call him Nevermore. He was sitting on the small dock across from my transom. He's very gentle and will take the hot dog pieces from my fingers. That is definitely cool.

Gosh, I am indeed fortunate. Thanks for your comment Pam. I appreciate that. J.

Exactly re the tomato Pam. from Janice aboard Seaweed on 21 Mar '21

A reader suggested via email to try neem oil to chase away the bugs. Another said he had similar problems with pigeons attacking his tomatoes. He suggested looking up Pigeon Pie recipes. That made me laugh. If I find another Tomato Rocket at Dollar Tree I will try yet again, this time with an arsenal of Neem oil. We shall see... Wish me luck. Signed, Dead-Eye.
