Welcome back! from Pam on 10 May '19

Good grief you've had a time of it, Janice! So, good to hear that you or Skipper weren't more seriously injured (though this is bad enough)! Yes, pain is debilitating and makes the healing process a long slog. It sounds like you are steadily improving and healing, and before too long you'll be feeling much better. Take it easy on yourself, relax, and enjoy the activities that you can. It will get better. :)

Thanks for the encouragement Pam from Janice aboard Seaweed on 10 May '19

This truly has been difficult from both a pain management point of view, and the simple annoyance of not being able to do the things i wish to do. For instance TYPING one doggone letter at a time is slow.

I do see a lot of progress though. It has been stressed to me how important supporting my arm is. The ball must reunite with the cup from my shoulder. Stress, pulling and such will impede that and could leave me with a permanently damaged joint. So yes, I am wearing the sling.

Do check though for something that is elastic like a back brace for your medicine locker. I may go borrow the back brace again as it is better than this sling perhaps. Nothing is perfect, so maybe I'm chasing something that doesn't exist.

At least now I can balance an apple while I peel it. For a couple weeks I couldn't eat my apples -- no strength to cut 'em up. I ate easy food, like blackberries and my dogs.

Aldi's sells turkey sausages, Jalapeno flavor. They look like hotdogs and taste spicy but not too hot. I like them, and at 100 calories, they work for the diet plan. The best part is they are easy to eat with one hand.

Anyway, I'm behaving and doing the exercises. I'm hoping I'll be able to move the boat in a couple more weeks. I had so been looking forward to my little outing. Sigh.

Anyway Pam, thanks for your nice note. I appreciate it. I will get better. And now that this article is up I can focus on the others that are in the works. I wanted to get this up first. Just be careful when you're working ... the physical therapist stated most injuries he treats are because patients are not focused on the current task at hand. I was, and being tired didn't help. Well, I've learned my lesson. And hopefully I can bring a cautionary tale to others so they don't get injured too.

Your friend in the south, J.

OHHH MY! from capt kim on 11 May '19

Poo! Not a fun time girl! Hope you are getting by O.K.!!!

Thanks Kim from Janice aboard Seaweed on 11 May '19

This whole experience has been humbling. I am recovering however not nearly as fast as I would wish. How is your Harold doing? J.

Oh Snap!! from Keith on 11 May '19

Or should I say crunch? I’m glad you and Skipper didn’t get hurt worse. Just the thought of falling onto those hard edges in the bilge gives my belly butterflies. The important thing now is to give your body a chance to heal correctly so you can continue living the blessed life of being on a boat in Florida.

That's true Keith from Janice aboard Seaweed on 11 May '19

I am fortunate. I am typing one letter at a time so everything is going slowly. Please do tell your bride I said thank you. when I am able I will check for any paperwork on the washer. I cannot empty and repack the locker at present.

For now I'm just trying not to stress the joint. This could end badly if I don't follow doctor orders.

Anyway I am tired. Not sleeping much yet. Still it is hard to not enjoy springtime in Florida. Thank you for your note. J.

Injury from Captain Kirk on 15 May '19

Janice - Angel With a Broken Wing. We are praying for you and for a quick recovery.

Thanks Captain Kirk from Janice aboard Seaweed on 16 May '19

Thank you kind Sir. You are observant. I am indeed a Star Trek fan -- have been for decades. Plus Firefly too. I've even got the StarTrek Voyager light up ornament although this year it didn't work.

That was totally okay. I still hung it. Now, I no longer use the more power hungry light cords so I suppose it will be relegated to a "looking good" status.

Thank you Cap'n Kirk for your comment. And too, for your prayers. I appreciate that too. J.
