I do so appreciate the "inside" look at this. Though I've read about men on fox hunts in my regency love stories, I had no idea the intricacies. Thank you for the education.
Also, thanks so much for letting me share this with others. Your friend in the southeast, J.
Very interesting read. Thanks! I was all but raised by a Cocker Spaniel, Penny. She was my best friend and protector from the time I was nine until I was midway through college. Love ya', Penny and thanks.
It is amazing the space four paws can fill in our hearts. Every one seems to hold a special place. Cocker's are so beautiful Pam. Soft and just beautiful.
Friends of mine on Manatee have one that is particularly cute. Patches is adorable. Unfortunately the first (and ONLY) time Skipper was aboard their boat she tinkled on their floor. ARGH. I was soooo embarrassed. I still cringe -- and they haven't stopped in on their way south for the past couple of trips so I am even more embarrassed. This was not a shining moment.
Anyway, I'm getting ready for my grand to arrive (in a week) which is a Big Deal for me. I'm so looking forward to that.
It's hot -- miserably hot and I'm doing my best to stay cool. I was hoping to get by to a thrift store to purchase a tea cup. Eons ago, (like five!) I bought my grand a tea service (the ones for children) except hers was ceramic. Since then she's been a fan of weak sugared tea so I'd like to get by to a thrift store and buy a pretty teacup and possibly saucer. That's the goal anyway. I don't know if that will be possible but I'm still hopeful.
Today I have been blessed. The neighbor's grand and his friend are here and we are getting the boat shiny. That's the Royal "we" (think: they are) so I'm very grateful for that. They are doing a great job -- stuff I don't have the strength nor stamina for at this point in the broken arm saga.
I'm Really Tired of the dang arm hurting. And the therapist who said "six to eight weeks" is a dang liar. I can endure most anything if I know it will end, and when. Especially when!
Back in the day when Tropical Storm Beryl was hitting, I had a friend on the VHF radio relaying reports on how long/when what was happening was going to stop in our particular area, etc. Ken had radar -- I didn't. His reports were Incredibly useful for me. He let us (there were several of us out in the North River for the storm) ... anyway, he let us know when the eye was due to pass overhead, and how long a window we had while the eye was overhead. I ended up adding another pair of snubbers as one had frayed during the initial storm run. Such is life.
Ken relaying via VHF radio what his radar was showing was Critical to that operation. He really was the voice I relied upon for local information. I could actually see his boat (when the rain abated) from where I was. It was an interesting time.
Anyway Pam, thanks so much for commenting. I do appreciate that. Your friend in the south, J.
