I wanted a galley down, sun bridge trawler. We, my husband and I, ended up with a galley up, trunk trawler and we couldn't be happier. The view from my galley window is always great, our dogs are free to run around the deck at will and we have plenty of deck space. Happily, we ended up with what we needed, which turned out to be what we really wanted. Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge on this terrific blog.
I truly love my boat. Today though (and yesterday too!) she is testing my sense of humor. I've got an electrical charging issue that I have not yet figured out. Tomorrow I'll tackle it again.
This must be solved as I cannot take Seaweed to McD's for iced coffee as it stands right now. I will check again in the morn, or afternoon. I think I've got a ride to the grocery store at some point tomorrow. I'll be ready for that.
Thanks for sticking with me Pam. It was a long month. I am VERY grateful Ken was able to get comments code redone. It's even working for androids and that was not true before the fiasco with my old webhost (webhostingbuzz, for the curious -- and anyone who considers them needs to THINK TWICE and pay more. It was a nightmare.
Now at first WHB (webhostingbuzz) was fine. Then they got bigger, moved and things went to heck in a handbasket. I kept trying to work with them (had been with the company for a half dozen years) but it just never got better. Every fix made things worse.
Thank goodness for my boat. At least she mostly behaves. Except the battery charging issue. I'll figure that out though.

I remember a couple we cruised in tandem with when I was a kidlet. They had a trunk cabin (Grand Banks, woodie 32' or perhaps 36') that they'd named YOLO (You Only Live Once) ... I loved their separate galley (where now the master cabin tends to be. They were nice folks -- owned the Travelodge at Atlanta airport. That was the highest occupancy one in the country year after year.
Congratulations on your choice. I like my galley up. Somehow doing dishes is not quite so bad when I can watch dolphins swimming by...
More Memory Lane stuff: Back just east of Pensacola I was anchored in a bay. The boat was surrounded by dolphin playing. One swam directly toward my window by the sink then dove under the boat and came out on the other side. We were anchored. Skipper and I sat on the swim platform and watched the pod swim around, chatter and jump out of the water. We had our own private show.
Ever since that day Skipper has loved (barked like a lunatic) whenever she sees dolphin. Once I acknowledge them, we sit down and watch.
