The birthday is a few days before Halloween. I've got my decorations up. I even added the electric blanket to my bunk. I'm ready for cooler weather.

Petroleum jelly is available at Dollar Tree and similar discount shops. I keep my new container in the medicine locker. The old one seems to live on the shelf by my bookcase though it belongs next to my tools under the dinette bench seat. I will put that away ASAP.
Disorder and visual clutter bother me. It's a quirk. I have lots of them. Hahaha.

In previous years Pam I have watched the Harry Potter series. This year though I'm not certain. I have been bad. Very Bad! Yes, it's true. I've bought books for my Kindle. Not counting g the free ones from Gutenberg.
So I will probably spend the night reading. My Paperwhite is totally amazing. It's my favorite for pure unadulterated reading. The best part is being able to both bold and increase the font size of text.
In addition to the new books I continue to read again or favorites. Life is great! J.
I had those on my NACRA sailboat but one blew off... really hard to find a replacement. They are supposed to have a huge O-ring just under the lid edge to make it watertight and keep dust, dirt, sand, etc., out of the threads. Also, petroleum jelly will kill a real rubber O-ring, so silicone spray (or grease) would be a better lubricant.

Thank you Captain Stuart for taking the time to alert me to the downside of using petroleum jelly on items with an o-ring. Alas, this one's o-ring has been gone for at least eleven years. Water-tight is not the need here. Basically this plate is to provide access to the fuel pick-up line for my starboard fuel tank.
The boat designer had one failure: the fuel tanks were installed before the cockpit and thus, zero access. Starboard side has a nice Beckson. The port side access is simply a small cut-out covered by a piece of starboard.
Still, using silicone (or lithium) would be a better option for those with o-rings. Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know.
P.S. - Yes, I am recovering well. It's almost Christmas and that is my favorite time of the year. I enjoy decorating Seaweed with lights and my special ornaments. I've even got a few baubles from Grandma who was born in 1895. How cool is that?!?
Plus there is Bing Crosby, Sinatra and more to serenade me. I'm looking forward to the holiday music. Such is life aboard Seaweed. I hope all is well with you. You know, I still refer to the Dictionary of Nautical Terms you wrote -- just last week as a matter of fact. Thanks!!! J.
