Did I understand that you are running your air conditioner without shore power?
My original 5k btu wall-banger does run off the Yamaha 1000 gas generator. However I am upgrading. The 5k won't work anymore aboard Seaweed. I'm upgrading, which of course means the smaller Yamaha1k can't power the new as yet uninstalled new rv unit.
With Grace due to your side deck overhang shading the salon I suspect your boat could get a smaller ac unit and cool a small area. Short ac wall-banger math: take btu and divide by 10 equals wattage needed. So a 5k room ac on cool uses approximately 500 watts. The fan portion uses 50 watts. This does scale up, as tested by my Kill-A-Watt meter.
I'm working on the powering for the new ac unit off grid at present. Once mine is installed I'll begin testing. Thanks for your question Keith. All the best to you and your bride. J.

This has been a continuing challenge, to increase power generation abilities faster than I find new ways to spend power.
Fortunately I am closer now than I ever imagined possible. Truly, except for the air conditioner everything functions via the solar. I am grateful
So of course, I would like to explore powering an ac too. This is not yet possible for me.

When I first bought Seaweed I had come off chemo and still had not regained my memory. Truly though I've been wiring most of my life. For some reason I was annoyed with my folks, so I took a screwdriver to our power panel and dismantled it, without killing myself. Yes, there was a spanking involved. And from then on I was taught what to do and how to do things safely.
Daddy was big on me doing things with my eyes closed as in many places you have to feel your way. Thus I do most things without the need to have visuals. And that is why every place on Seaweed where there are positive and ground wires, the red is always on the right. On other boats I gave to look however on my own, there's no need. Little things, but it does make my life easier. Also, I do look! It's just not as necessary for me to have bright lights on the project. We worked by lantern lights when I was young... it's been a great life. I am indeed fortunate.
