"One way to meet people that share our interests is to take a class in a subject that can be useful as we cruise." Excellent, Janice! BTW: That's a beautiful sewing machine. :)

Wow. Series hit the nail on the head.

It is a beautiful machine Pam. from Janice aboard Seaweed on 22 Mar '19

Hi Pam. I used the Singer Featherweight (Model 221) at anchor to make my Utilitarian Quilt. When the wind blew, I sewed every afternoon. Back then I had just the 75 watt panel over the cockpit and a wind generator.

On that coast the afternoon breezes kicked up with much more regularity than here. Morning sea breezes too, but not here. At least now I have enough solar so that's not an issue.

Classes can be great. I find I learn more on the second go through than on the initial class. It is like I understand it now, but that second class reinforces and I always pick up something I missed the first time.

I do best reading though. For me, because my hearing is such as it is, books are my favorite learning method.

When I was younger I went to a lot of quilt shows to learn what I needed. Those were enjoyable -- just associating with people who were so much more talented than I was delighted me. I'd always end up buying a book and some little something. For sewing, well, I bought a lot of needles. I have/had an embarrassing number of sewing needles at one time!

That is life aboard Seaweed. I want to get out the rest of this article (Part 4 should be the final) so that I can get on to something else. And I want to pull out some new crochet yarn I scored at the thrift store a couple months back. It's nice stuff and I'd like to do some small granny squares with the yarn. This is a step up as before I've done thread crochet versus using yarn. I'm hoping I will like it. Enough rambling from me. See you along the waterways, and thank you for your comment Pam. J.

It is not easy to find someone to share the journey Warren. Frankly I am always a bit envious of couples who have a good relationship. As Seaweed is not suitable for a couple, she's really a one person (and a pup) boat, there are limitations. I'm working my way around that and have ideas for others who find themselves in a similar boat.

Seaweed is my Forever home, however there are ways to share a cruise without being aboard the same vessel. I've got a friend on the east coast -- she says I'm her Bob!

Bob, bless his heart, lives on even though he has been gone for so many years. It is amazing the impact one person can have on a group of people. And yes, our Bob is still brought up in conversations. That's quite a legacy for anyone.

But I digress... anyway Cap'n Warren how goes your life? Hoping all continues to be well for you. Enjoy your boat. J.
