You have many good memories to cherish, Janice. 😊 Enjoy your trip to Marineland!
The place was incredibly special Pam. We did not often stay at marinas, however that was one we made a point of visiting. Just north of there is an inlet from the Atlantic. On the south side was an old Spanish fort only accessible from the water I memory serves me.
We would anchor on the south side, close to shore was good holding with a sand bottom. I would take my dinghy with the current to the fort. Once there I would play pirates and Indians. Tnen, once the tide/current changed I would row back to the boat. It was a wonderful place to pretend. And, inside the fort walls it was cooler.
I am indeed fortunate. Thanks for sharing my world. I suspect lots of kids growing up wild (away from cities) have similar experiences in the woods. Those children might play cowboys and Indians. 😀 I should have asked what land kids did for fun outside.
One of your best articles, ever. You covered a lot of territory in this one but you did eventually find your way back home. Keep up the great work.
You're correct Cap'n Sid. I did allow my memories to wander on this post. Marineland was such a special place, and a fun stop. Mostly we anchored out so marinas were especially memorable. Plus a marina with fish, and dolphins, and the cool rocks on beach? Well you would have to be there. Maybe someday you will get a chance to visit too... I hope others can experience the same joy I did way back when.
Thank you for your comment Sid. I appreciate that. J.
