Hi, Janice. Your daddy's scraper looks like it means business! A good tool lasts just about forever. Love the Christmas decoration. 👍
That your father built that 40' steel trawler himself is amazing. I have such respect for anyone who can do that. Your scraper looks perfect to me. Lesson learned when you loaned it out. Maybe. Here is my mantra, after much life experience. NEVER LOAN OUT TOOLS!!! NEVER. NEVER. NEVER. You will always be disappointed. If you truly want someone else to use one of your tools then just give it to him with no expectation of ever using it again. Same goes with your car, and your wife. Never loan them out, either.
It is odd... many of my tools belonged to Daddy. It is like he is still here, boating with me. That is comforting.
I have scaled back Christmas again this year. Each year seems to be a little more restrained. Now I am focusing on favorites and winnowing the display. I sent a friend the duck I had bought a few years back. She said she liked it, so!!! And that is how I passed along items I no longer Love.
That makes me happy. As I go through things I pull for the thrift store too. I do not need to be a repository of no longer needed Stuff. Seaweed should not be a warehouse!
That said, I love looking around my home and seeing items gifted by friends. It is like they remain with me in a tangible sense. I have been incredibly fortunate. J.
I do believe that most folks are great. Though sometimes interactions are not all I would hope, I'm certain I have not always been as generous, kind and thoughtful as I should have been. Life is a journey, and the rough patches make one appreciate the best of times.
These are the best of times. I am indeed fortunate. I hope everyone is able to achieve their life goals. Living aboard Seaweed is the best. AND I'm having her painted. She's got the green stripe done. Eventually she will be Oyster White. It's a beautiful color. I look forward to her shiny new self.
Thanks for your comment Sid. I appreciate that, and have duly noted your take on tools. J.
